For churches and officiants.

I film weddings, and I know a church is not a film set. This is what I promise you.

Before a couple signs anything, I talk with the couple, the church or officiant, and the venue. We agree whether I may film and record, where I stand, and anything that must not be filmed or recorded. If you would like to agree it in writing, I have a one-page plan we can fill in together.

I ask first.

Before the wedding I ask you what is allowed, and I do what you say. I do not assume anything.

I stay out of the way.

I stand where we have agreed. I do not walk the aisle. I use no flash and no added light. I work with what the room already has.

Sacred moments stay sacred.

If there is a moment you would rather I did not film or record, you tell me and I do not. The couple and the guests can pray, sing and receive without a camera pointed at them.

Sound without intrusion.

I only use a small recorder and a small clip-on microphone, and only where you agree. I never connect to your sound system unless you offer. I never put a microphone on a minister, priest or officiant unless they offer.

Quiet and dressed for the occasion.

I arrive early, set up quietly, wear what the guests wear, and leave without a fuss.

If you feel I’ve broken one of these, tell me. I’ll respond within 48 hours and listen.
